Our  beloved Prof. John Ehrstine returns with this year’s “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” class.

 Join the discussion of Shakespeare’s plays being performed at this year’s Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, including one fairly rare play Cymbeline, and three great favorites: King Lear, The Taming of the Shrew, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The 8-class series is only $35, and books for the class are available for purchase.

Learn about two distinct art forms – the funding grant and the play – with these free upcoming programs:

This Sunday, April 17, at 3:30 p.m. the Northwest Author Series presents “Fund Your Projects: Grant Writing for the Literary Artist” with author Gigi Rosenberg. Get tips for writing grants in this hands-on workshop. Cost is $5 at the door.

Then starting on Wednesday, April 20, Brush Up Your Shakespeare! Prof. John Ehrstine presents his annual Shakespeare class featuring plays being performed at this year’s Oregon Shakespeare Festival, including Julius Caesar, Measure for Measure, Henry IV Part Two, and Love’s Labors Lost. The class will meet for 8 Wednesday days, 6-7:30 p.m., from April 20 through June 8. Cost is $35. Texts are available for purchase at a discount.

Build your appreciation for film, and learn about film’s relationship to other art forms and to society as a whole. The class will explore the nature of cinema as a technology, business, cultural product, entertainment medium and international art form.  Students will view films from a wide variety of cinematic genres and styles both foreign and domestic. This class will focus on elements of film production including: writing, acting, cinematography and more.

Ages: High School to Adult
Time: 6:00 to 9:00 pm
Location: Oak Room at the Wilsonville Public Library.
Dates:  Mondays, April 5 through May 24
Fee: $30 for entire program.

Brush Up Your ShakespeareShakespeare

Professor John Ehrstine (emeritus, Washington State University) will continue his engaging discussion of Shakespeare’s plays being performed at this year’s Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, including Hamlet, Twelfth Night, Henry IV Part One, and Merchant of Venice.

This is Professor Ehrstine’s seventh season at the Wilsonville Public Library. His seminars have been very popular and highly regarded. Texts, as well as films to aid in the study, will be available at the Library. Seating is limited, so sign-up early to reserve your seat.
