Drop off your Tic-Tac-Toe cards, Books Reviews, and ballots at the Library

Get those Tic-Tac-Toe cards and Book Reviews in!

(And those Special Election ballots!)

To qualify for the Grand Prize Drawings of a Kindle Paperwhite (sorry, the Touch is no longer available) and a Dinner and a Movie ($75 gift certificate to Abella Italian Kitchen and $25 gift card to Regal Cinemas), turn in your completed Tic-Tac-Toe cards by 8 p.m. next Monday, March 11.

For those readers who want to share their thoughts (or feel like reading 3 books is just too much pressure), you can write a Book Review and turn that in for a separate drawing for $25 Barnes and Noble gift cards.

But hurry up! Time is almost out!

For more information, see the Adult Winter Reading Program page on the Library website.

Adult Winter Reading Program is coming

Just in time for the rain!

Adult Winter Reading Program 2013

The Adult Winter Reading Program returns for a 2nd year with “Reading in a Winter Wonderland“.  Read books and get entered to win prizes, including a Kindle Touch and a “Dinner and a Movie” (valued at $100).

It’s easy to enter! Starting Monday, January 7, pick up a Tic-Tac-Toe card or Book Review form at the Library OR download them from our website. Turn in the completed forms by Monday, March 11, for entry in to the prize drawings.

Is there a better way to spend the cold drizzly days here than with a book? (I mean, if you can’t make it to Hawaii and read on a sandy beach, at any rate.)

Adult Summer Reading Program is over

Thank you to everyone who participated this year. We had a great summer with more folks participating than last year. Wow!

Prizes have been mailed to winners. This summer’s prizes included gift certificates to Abella Italian Kitchen, Dar Essalam, The Loop Café, McCormick and Schmick’s, McMenamins, and Powell’s Books, as well as pairs of movie passes to Regal Cinemas.

All prizes and supplies were purchased with funds graciously provided by the Friends of the Wilsonville Library. Stop by their used bookstore “Twice Sold Tales” in the Library lobby and say “Thanks!”

Some fun facts from this summer:

Number of participants: 68 (2011 ASRP was 53).

ASRP Firsts:
-received first book reviews in Spanish
-had first participants whose parents had been participants
-had first book of poetry to reach the Top 5 most read books

Most number of submissions: 69.

Most popular books read by participants (in order of popularity):
1. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
2. Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James
3. Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
4. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
5. Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou (maybe because it was the shortest book of poetry? i.e. for the Tic-Tac-Toe square for “Poetry”)

Can’t get enough reading? Then stay tuned for the 2nd annual Adult Winter Reading Program starting in January.
