3rd Annual Adult Winter Reading Program starts today

Adult Winter Reading Program 2014

Read and win prizes!

Get ready to read, comrade!

The 3rd Annual Adult Winter Reading Program starts today (Monday, January 6, 2014). Read books and win prizes during these months when you just want to curl up with a good book.

This year’s theme is “Hot Reads for Cold Nights: Sochi 2014 Edition”. We’re celebrating all things Olympics, winter sports, and Russian. Complete a Tic-Tac-Toe (or a Diabolical Tic-Tac-Toe if you want a challenge) and get entered into the Grand Prize Drawing for a Kindle e-reader and a “Dinner & a Movie”. Both prizes are valued at approximately $100.

You can also turn in Book Reviews and get entered into a separate prize drawing for gift cards to Barnes and Noble.

Tic-Tac-Toe cards and Book Review forms are available at the library, and can be downloaded from our website: www.wilsonvillelibrary.org/awrp.

Last day to turn in completed cards and forms is Monday, March 10, 2014.

So get reading!

Here’s a Book Review from the recently ended Adult Summer Reading Program. Have you read this title? If so, what did you think?

Title/Author: “The Bourne Identity” by Robert Ludlum

Genre: Spy thriller

Rating: 3 out of 5

WV Reader Review: It’s not a thought-provoking or life-changing read, but it is certainly a fun one. The book also differs so extremely from the movie that it will leave fans of the movie clueless as to how it’s going to end. Good writing, good character development, fun twists, and manageable chapter lengths make this one worthy of a recommendation to my friends.

Title/Author: “Out of My Mind” by Sharon M. Draper

Genre: Fiction

Rating: 5 out of 5

WV Reader Review: This was recommended to me & I definitely recommend it. It’s a Young Adult read, but every parent and teacher should also read. It’s very insightful and thought-provoking and full of emotions. I’d say if you are the type to shed a tear at movies you may be so inclined as you read this touching story as well. Melody is 11 years old and teachers and doctors don’t think she’s capable of learning, but boy are they wrong – just because she can’t talk doesn’t mean she can’t think! It’s a powerful story. Read it – you won’t be sorry! It’s wonderful! A QUICK & MEMORABLE READ!!
