Get your bookshelves ready because we’ll be Digging Into Reading this summer at the Library!
Kids (ages birth to 6th grade) can Dig Into Reading and Science with the Summer Reading Program and with Science Adventure. Kids who read (or are read to) for 20 minutes a day for 20 days become 20/20 readers and get a certificate, a free book, and qualify for fun prize drawings. Kids who engage in 10 science explorations over the summer can qualify for a chance to win an annual pass to Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum.
Teens (grades 6th through 12th) will go Beneath the Surface with their reads in the Teen Summer Reading Program. Teens who read for 20 minutes a day for 20 days win a free book and qualify for fun prize drawings.
Adults (ages 18 and older) have a summer of Groundbreaking Reads for the Adult Summer Reading Program. What does “groundbreaking” mean? Just about anything – from banned and challenged books, to books that changed your life, to novels about zombies and vampires, and even books about digging in the dirt (gardening, geology, or archaeology, anyone?). Choose to do the book Tic-Tac-Toe or a Book Review for entry into the Grand Prize Drawing at the end of summer. Prizes include gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses, as well as movie tickets.
And that’s just the reading part. We have some amazing programs this summer as well. Take a look at our calendar to see what’s coming up.
